QFEST 2008 > The Films > A Four Letter Word
Several intermingling stories offer honest, human and insightful depictions of the complexities of gay relationships. When Luke enters a gay bar one night, he doesn’t know that he is about to meet his match in hot macho man named Stephen. Awakening in a twisted heap of naked strangers, Luke heads out to work at a Chelsea sex store where he is forced to face his lifestyle by his co-worker Zeke, a confrontational gay crusader. Smitten with Stephen, Luke considers giving monogamy a chance and attends a 12-step sexual compulsion meeting to help. Stephen, however, has his own surprising secrets. Up the street, Peter is moving in with his long time boyfriend Derek and is having second thoughts himself. Peter’s restaurant boss Marilynn is maniacally planning her wedding, but when her AA sponsor, Trisha, declares her attraction, Marilynn's sobriety and marriage are in jeopardy. The protagonists finally realize that being true to oneself may be the best way to deal with the many complications of a four letter word called love.
